This yarding was a similar yarding to the previous sale.
The sale was made up of:
- 3207 Lambs
- 3696 Ewes
- 697 Hoggets
- 133 Wethers
- 65 Old Sheep
- 45 Rams
Lamb numbers were slightly back on the last sale and quality was considered plainer over the whole yarding.
There was a limited number of well finished trade lambs on offer on Wednesday and only a few pens of heavy lambs presented.
Well finished lambs met solid competition and were firm to slightly cheaper than the previous sale.
Lighter and unfinished lambs were up to $5 of the pace from a fortnight ago.
As usual there was a good field of buyers on the rail but not all were active during the sale.
Top pen of the day was presented by Graham Warren from Crogan, which were XB lambs on the grain that made $153 per head.
With a $8 jacket and estimated 28kg CW they came back at $5.20kg CW and were knocked down to Southern Meats Goulburn.
Most trade lambs ranged from $5 to $5.20/kg CW and were generally $4 to $5 per head cheaper than last sale.
These prices are reported as in line with other regional NSW centres.
Re-stockers paid from $28 up to $96 per head with some better lines going to feedlots and making up to $106 per head.
Once again a large mutton offering was presented and quality was mixed.
There were some large runs of merino and cross bred ewes on offer.
Mutton with good covering met solid competition and prices were similar to last sale.
Heavy Merino ewes with big jackets sold to $107 with XB ewes selling to $92 with some of these going to re-stockers.
Medium framed ewes sold between $52 and $72 with light ewes selling from $30 to $40.
Most mutton in the $2.75 to $ 3/kg CW.
The next sheep sale is scheduled for a fortnight from the last sale on Wednesday, February 24 commencing at 10am.
Farmers are encouraged to please book early with their preferred agent ahead of the next sale.
