The service commenced with the song The Spirit of Anzac, followed by opening remarks from Integrated Servicepeople’s Association of Australia president Robert Bak, who reflected on all veterans past and present serving in all conflicts.  

As the sun rose the village was woken up with the strains of the Last Post, played by local bugler Steve Belling.  

Mr Bak made mention of Junee’s Graham Elphick, who is researching the names on all cenotaphs in the Junee district, including Bethungra, in order to seek each veteran’s family background and military history so veterans won’t be forgotten in years to come.
