WELL they say you should never judge a book by its cover, that’s what one could say about the Goongong Hogs on Saturday.

They turned up two hours before match well dressed in their new club polos, then we towelled them up by 99 points.
They did advise us due to the long weekend they had already forfeited their fourths to Yass, which obviously did not please Yass.

WHILE the Blues were expected to win the match, the winning margin was what surprised most and the conversation rate for goals was what pleased the coaching staff, 20-13.

ON SATURDAY before the game, I was talking to Keith Ronning.
I mentioned to Keith that the Blues have seven to nine new players so it might take more than a few games for the side to gel.
Keith who was a member of inaugural Cootamundra Cats as they were called side in 1960 and was president of the Blues from 1989-92, Keith said, “When we stated, we had about six blokes that had never seen a game of Aussie Rules”.
In 1960, not much if any footy on TV.
Today, if you have pay TV, you can watch every match live, while Channel 7 shows at least half of the matches live.

GREAT to see two debuts in Saturday’s match with Paddy Cameron and Blake Basham taking to the field for the first time.
Paddy forgot for a moment when ran 30 metres without bouncing the ball, however Paddy really shows he has plenty of speed and good ball sense he will be asset to the side.
Blake acquitted himself well in the backline.
Blake joins his father Todd (with 278 matches) and older brother Hamish (38 matches) who have both pulled on the navy blue jumper.

THE Blues can certainly expect some tougher opposition at Clarke Oval on Saturday when host a solid ANU Griffins team.
The students are undefeated.
They had a bye in round two, defeated Goulburn by 23 points in round three, while the big surprise was last Saturday when they thoroughly belted Woden Blues by 72 points.
ANU is in second spot with Ainslie leading the competition.
Goulburn are yet to register a win with three consecutive losses.
