A New Jersey man caused $US10,000 ($13,700) worth of damage to vehicles on Mother's Day at the wrong house as he sought revenge against a man dating his ex-girlfriend, police say.
Ajinka Kelkar believed a vehicle in the driveway of a house in South Brunswick "belonged to a person who was dating his former girlfriend," police said, according to media outlet NJ.com.
Instead, he had gone to the wrong home and slashed the tyres, scratched obscenities, and stabbed the roof of a Jeep Wrangler who belonged to another woman.

A surveillance camera captured footage that allegedly showed Kelkar "walking around the property with a knife" doing the damage, police told NJ.com.

Friends who had stayed the night at the house also had the tyres on their vehicles slashed in the incident which occurred at 1.15am on Sunday, US time.
A total of five vehicles in the driveway were damaged.
Police tweeted comments about the case, noting the $US3000 in damage to one vehicle, although all other media reports suggest the total damage is as high as $US10,000.
Kelkar was arrested later that morning and the truck he allegedly used was seized. He was released on $US10,000 bail.
