Weir is one of many trainers happy to be heading to Cootamundra after the original meeting scheduled for Gundagai was transferred.

Weir has five horses engaged and expects Zorba to take a power of beating in the Bryant Constructions Class One & Maiden Plate (1600m).

Zorba broke his maiden at his third start for Weir at Wagga last month before things did not pan out last start when sixth at Narrandera.

“Zorba’s probably my best chance,” Weir said.

“He wasn’t ridden that well last start and had to come along the inside where it was hard to make ground.

“If he has any luck at all (on Saturday), he should go close to winning.”

Weir also expects Cod Rock to go close in the Milbrae Concrete Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) as the four-year-old looks to register his first win since April last year.

“I was a little bit disappointed with his run the other day until I watched the replay,” he said.

“The ground along the fence at Narrandera was no good at all.

“I have taken the blinkers and tongue tie off and we will let him bowl a long a bit. It’s a big drop in class so hopefully it does the trick.”

Weir was happy with the trial of Global Roaming ahead of her debut in the Primary Health Centre Maiden Handicap (1100m).

Weir also leans to Hercule’s Horse over Oh So Touchable in the Benchmark 50 Handicap (1100m).
