The NBN network’s fast, reliable download speeds open a range of digital doors for residents and businesses.
Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager Chris Taylor said the launch of Telstra services on the NBN network around Cootamundra would give locals the opportunity to use a variety of new and emerging technologies made possible by fast and reliable broadband.
“The introduction of fixed wireless technology in the Cootamundra region marks the beginning of a brilliantly connected era for locals,” Mr Taylor said.
He said the launch of the NBN network comes as broadband use in Australia reaches unprecedented levels with the volume of traffic carried over Telstra’s fixed network increasing by more than 30 per cent last year.
The NBN network can provide those Cootamundra residents connected with the bandwidth needed to get more members of the household online at the same time.
Mr Taylor said Telstra staff had been gearing up for the launch for several months with local technicians and store staff, including those at the Young store receiving special training to help residents seamlessly transition to the NBN network.
Stockinbingal was the first area in the former Cootamundra Shire to get the NBN with a fixed wireless tower providing fast broadband for 180 premises in the village and surrounding areas.
Cootamundra residents interested in finding out if their house is one of those now able to connect to the NBN can go to www.telstra.com.au/broadband/nbn/nbn-rollout and type in their address.
