Football Wagga Wagga was forced to cancel all senior games last weekend, a decision that is likely to affect where some teams finish on the ladder. Fortunately for the Cootamundra Strikers men’s first grade team, not playing this weekend is unlikely to affect them.

The team remains in second place and still has a chance to displace ladder leaders Lake Albert when they face off in the final round of the competition.
While the cancellations were inconvenient club president James Philpott was upbeat.
“We would have liked to play today but in the end what can you do? It’s the correct decision Football Wagga has made.”
Men’s reserve grade are slightly less fortunate as they currently sit outside the top four and need every opportunity available to gain points if they hope to secure a finals berth.
For the women’s team the lack of a match last weekend isn’t of much concern. They sit second behind Junee who were scheduled to play last-placed Lake Albert who are win-less this season.
Victory was all but guaranteed for Junee so it was highly unlikely that the Strikers would have been able to close the points gap.
It looks like more rain is on its way which is likely to give FWW even more headaches. With many grounds already unsafe and an existing backlog of catch up games to be played, FWW will be praying for the rain to stay away.
