They sit with them and chat, listening to stories of the ‘good, old days’, as well as play games such as cards or board games.
Puzzles are also popular with both the residents and the students.
Carol Campbell of the village said hosting the students provides a wonderful, interactive opportunity for residents.
It affords them company and breaks up their day.
For students, it can be eye-opening to spend time with the older generation and also promotes them becoming positive members of the community.
It is part of the students’ Faith in Action component of their studies, which is undertaken by each year 10 group.
