The reserves were poised to make the postseason, sitting just three points below fourth-placed South Wagga with one game to play.
They needed a win over Lake Albert which, on paper looked likely, for South Wagga to lose to third-placed Wagga United and for Junee to lose to ladder-leaders Henwood Park.
Unfortunately for the reserves only one of these three necessities went their way.
On Saturday night, Wagga United and South Wagga battled out a goalless draw.
The one point for South Wagga was enough to bring the reserves season to an end.
With knowledge of the previous evening’s result a lackluster Strikers team took to O’Connor Park and were upset 2-0 by Lake Albert.
The reserves should still be congratulated on an excellent season.
