Police closed Bourke Street between Murray Street and Poole Street as NSW Fire and Rescue assisted residents to leave their homes.
The creek had risen to a point where backyards of houses next to the creek were underwater and properties were beginning to be threatened.
Creek water spilled had onto Bourke Street forcing police to cordon it off.
