A 7.4-magnitude earthquake (recorded by the USGS as 6.9) hit off the coast of Fukushima, Japan, this morning, triggering a tsunami warning and an evacuation order to local residents. New Zealand was also struck by an earthquake this morning. While reporting of the magnitude of the quake that shook the North Island varied; US Geological Survey reported it as magnitude 6.3, while Geonet reported it as magnitude 5.4, there is no doubt locals have been shaken, it coming after thousands of aftershocks followed a powerful quake last week.
