Council Interim General Manager Ken Trethewey has since explained that the Gundagai office is receiving a new counter and new office layout thus excess furnishings have been removed while the work is completed.
“As I understand it, the Lions president, Geoff Johns, came in on Friday to put mints on the new counter and was told that we wanted to remain free of non-Council paraphernalia on the counter,” Mr Trethewey said.
“I am told that when he collected the mints he had no problem at all with the decision,” he continued.
Mr Trethewey told the Cootamundra Herald that council has offered to set up a new table in the foyer area to promote the mints once the refurbishment is complete, a message which was relayed to the group via council staff last Friday.
Meanwhile, the Gundagai Lions Club has been granted $14,630 through the Stronger Councils Fund to build a new shelter.
