There has long been suggestions from the intelligence community that the Putin administration was involved in some way in the leaking of emails, to the detriment of the Clinton campaign - something President-elect Donald Trump has repeatedly disparaged.
Prior to the "constructive meeting and conversation", Mr Trump made sure the public had their facts straight on Twitter - though on another matter he holds dear to his heart.
As the United States' various intelligence organisations were preparing to present to the President-elect their findings, the self-proclaimed 'ratings machine' was busy taunting Arnold Schwarzenegger - his Celebrity Apprentice replacement - over television ratings.

being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 6, 2017
Nielsen polling data points to a 43 per cent drop in the program's ratings for a season premiere of the show, in comparison to Mr Trump's last series opener.
Former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger hit back over the social media platform shortly afterward, but opted to stick to politics, rather than media results.
I wish you the best of luck and I hope you'll work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.— Arnold (@Schwarzenegger) January 6, 2017
Following the meeting and the release of a statement conceding that other countries are constantly attempting to hack into US Government data, Mr Trump fired off some tweets related to the matter at hand.
For those looking to their President-elect for some direction on who to find responsible, it was not Moscow or any other group that was to foot the blame.
Gross negligence by the Democratic National Committee allowed hacking to take place. The Republican National Committee had strong defense!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 7, 2017
