Damian looked to have the game to himself but John got into his stride and won 12 of the next 16 ends to overhaul his opponent with a masterful display of bowls and moved to the next round with a 31-29 win.
Ron Rosengreen and Rod Bradley had a great tussle, where after 19 ends Pickles held the advantage 22-13 and was traveling nicely.
Ron rallied and scored 19 shots in 11 ends to go on and win 32-26. Brad Lange and Geoff Hillier had a very entertaining encounter where every shot had to be earned.
There was never more than four shots difference the entire match with Geoff taking the win 31-27.
In another tight game Roy Cleveland played Shane McKellar from Harden where Roy was in control 21-12 and looked to be coasting but Shane was having none of it and mounted a challenge to draw 30-all on end 36 but Roy got the shot that was needed to win 31-30.
Jim Deacon was never troubled to beat Tony Fisher from Harden 31-20.
Peter Hoang too good for Tony Curtis 31-11 and Tony Z from Harden out played Charlie Wills 31-17. Great bowls continued on Friday night with the pick of them being Neil Webb and Mick O’Toole who battled hammer and tong for 42 ends to only have a score line of 30 all. Neil managed to obtain the final shot on end 43.
Don (The duck) O’Neil was in the battle of his life with Terry McDonald and was up early in the game to lead 12-9 but Terry mounted a challenge to claim the lead 24-14. The Duck was in a flap but got it together and came home strongly to win 31-30. Geoff Hillier put in a magnificent effort to go down to one of Temora’s top guns Bill Robertson 31-28. Bill was heard to say one of the toughest game he ever played. Greg (Grumpy) Fisher shot to an early lead 11-0 after 8 ends and Froggy thought he was in for an early night but they kept him out on the green for another 21 ends where the score was 30-all Grumpy managed to fluke the shot needed to move to the next round. Bob New held his own for most of the game but went down 31-23. Jim White outclassed Harold Anderson from Young 31-16.
Wednesday saw Terry McDonald ended P.Guthrie’s chances with a 32-18 win. Grumpy accounted for R.Hillier 31-12.
