This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first high school students to complete the HSC under the Wyndham Scheme.
A reunion for Cootamundra ex-students will be held at the Cootamundra Country Club on Friday.
The reunion will give many ex-students the chance to reminisce.
Organisers of the event recall on the final muck up day the Rev Stan Allen and Daryl Fazio were held for “ransom” and $63 was raised for charity. Also, classified advertisements were placed in the Cootamundra Herald for the sale of the headmaster’s car (a 1957 Holden with 200,000 miles on the clock) and Cootamundra High School was put up for sale including 33 teachers.
The reunion is for all students who started in 1962 and for those who joined along the way.
Former student Greg Field said a lot had changed over the years.
“We had no aircon back then,” he said.
