The side joined the Cootamundra Rugby League Football Club in 2009 and had their best year in 2015 when they fell one game short of a Grand Final appearance.
A side could not be fielded last year as the Bullettes lost a number of players, however this year Kristen Glanville, who has been there since the beginning, together with sister Renae, were not going to sit on the sidelines again.
The junior league ranks have proved a good breeding ground for talented players and the more experienced Bullettes returning to the fold will be joined by a number of talented teenagers.
As well as the dynamic Glanville sisters, Danni Visser, Mikayla Large, Abby Perry, Emily Levett, Maddison Byrne and Claire Berkrey will once again be in blue and white.
They will be joined by the likes of Laura Miller, who has achieved success up to Cronulla Sharks level in rugby league, Lauren Connell and Abbey Guthrie.
The likes of Olivia McDermott, Abbey Platt and Georgie Heggaton are relatively new to the game and are picking it up well.
The side is being co-coached by Kristen and her partner Aaron Byrne, who has been at the helm of the first grade men’s Bulldogs side previously.
Kristen could not be more excited to get back on the field.
“It was hard to sit on the sidelines last year,” she said.
The girls have been training in the heat since January building team rapport with so many new girls and improving their fitness.
Kristen said they are looking forward to West Wyalong to test where they are up to and gain some valuable game time.
Having started in the leaguetag side at a time when rugby league was a man’s sport, Kristen said she and the other girls learnt their skills from scratch.
Today, as young girls graduate out of the junior league ranks, they come with superb skills.
“With the juniors, it is a lot quicker,” Kristen said.
Aaron is pleased to see the leaguetag side return saying it is good for the club.
“The numbers they bring to watch on game day are amazing and the boys benefit out of that too,” Aaron said.
“They are also the first ones to put their hand up when something needs doing,” he added.
He is confident they will represent the club proudly in West Wyalong.
They will play at least two games before the top four out of 10 women’s side go into a Cup final and the next four into a Plate final.
The bottom two miss out, with Kristen and Aaron’s first goal to ensure the Bullettes are not one of these teams.
The Group Nine season will start in early April with the Bullettes taking on Junee at Junee first up.
