Three-year-old Wyatt Searle was killed on Tuesday after his father allegedly ran over him while in the driveway of their Sutton Street home.
The car continued with the driver unaware the toddler had been run over and was seriously injured.
Emergency services were called and Wyatt was rushed to Cootamundra Hospital, where he sadly passed away.
Wyatt was known as Wy Wy to those who knew and loved him most.
He grew up in Cootamundra and was known as a real character to locals.
There has been an outpouring of compassion and support from the Cootamundra community for the family.
As they come to grips with the tragedy, Jodie and Jeremy and Wyatt’s siblings - Liliana and Charlotte and Ethan - are finding comfort in their faith, their family and their close friends.
In a statement they put together paying tribute to their precious son, Jodie and Jeremy refer to a boy who “melted the hearts of all he met with his overflowing character, affection and joyfulness”.
“Our little Wyatt, gifted to us from the Lord on March 10, 2014, was our treasured boy who brought so much joy to our home with his mature, ‘little old man’, larger than life personality,” they said.
The couple thanked the community for the caring thoughts and gestures directed at them.
“We are so very grateful for the kind and heartfelt support that has been shown to our family through the tragic loss of our little boy Wyatt.”
Jodie and Jeremy are working with Cootamundra police while a coroner's report is prepared.
Over the coming weeks, they will move through the necessary preparations to farewell their son and ask that the privacy of their home and family be respected.
Meanwhile, tributes are flowing on social media for little Wyatt as the community shows their support for the Searle family during this most difficult of times.
