Unfortunately the Easter triples had to be changed from last year’s format when a disappointing 14 teams entered. Mick Barber’s composite team from Cootamundra CC, Windang and Kiama were the only six game winners and collected first place prize money with another composite of B. Beatson from Nyngan, G. Ryan ACT and O. Lopez Cootamundra Ex collecting the runner up prize.
A big thank you to our sponsors SW Credit Union, Wattle Tree Motel, Twomeys, Wattle Butchery, Cootamundra CC and Cootamundra Ex without their support this tournament could not be run.
Social bowls: T. Cosgrove, T. Curtis & G. Hillier defeated P. Cockram, P. Richardson & J. White 18-17 on an extra end. Ginger, J. Huntington & D. Dennis had a win over K. Hampton, A. Small & The Duck 25-19. O. Lopez, Froggy & Bob New 25-23.
- WOMEN’S EX-SERVICES
WEDNESDAY morning a round of club major singles were played between Wendy Deacon and Carolyn Buchanan marked by Shirley. A good game with only a point difference on the 12th end, but the more experienced Wendy gained the upper hand to have the win. On rink five, a social game of triples were played between Kye, Rhonda and Margaret M and Sara, Bev and Freda skipping and winning. A good enjoyable game with Kye showing a lot of potential.
On Friday several of our ladies joined the men in a mixed tournament. No play on Saturday due to the men's club running a tournament.
- WOMEN'S COUNTRY CLUB
SOUTH Western District Senior Fours Champions. On Tuesday of last week, at Harden, our Senior Fours team of Pat Francis, Neta Manwaring, Ellenor Armstrong and Betty Vicq had a thrilling one point win (16-15) victory over Elsie Hines’ team from Young. Congratulations and so well done to Pat, Neta, Ellenor and Betty, who now go on to contest the Regional championships at Wagga in July.
Social play last Thursday was Queen of the Green singles play. Ten members took part, with three of the five matches extremely close. Queen of the Green for April is Diana Buchanan, with a narrow win over Neta Manwaring. Tomorrow is our popular Crazy Whist at 2pm for 2.30pm. All welcome to come along for a fun afternoon.
