The Parker Street florist has a panache for visual feasts – many would recall Elizabeth Anne Florist & Gift’s delightful Valentine's Day Kombi van – but their annual Anzac Day display is something far more intimate.
“It’s just about honouring and remembering the sacrifice of those who served and came back, and those who served and did not,” Mr Jenkins said.
“We might not even be here if it wasn’t for those men and women.”
A former musician in the Citizens Military Force, Mr Jenkins was trained as a service medic and stretcher bearer and has a profound respect for all factions of the armed services, stating his intention to incorporate naval and air force memorabilia into his future displays.
“Everyone pays their respects in their own individual ways,” he said.
“We do this every year as a team effort and it’s just our way of remembering them.”
“I’d love to include some items from the navy and the air force in next year's display.”
“Men and women from all three services made sacrifices and it would great to display them together.”
