President, Michele Baldry, welcomed members from the branches who attended the conference. We were delighted to have the CEO of Red Cross Australia, Judy Slatyer, who had just returned from the Geneva Red Cross headquarters.
Reports were read from branches and a total in excess of $70,000 was raised for Red Cross by Zone 19 for the year.
The guest speaker was Fiona Braybrooks who spoke of her work in India and her love for that country and its people. Fiona has returned to Cootamundra where she is now a language teacher for local TAFE colleges as well as for inmates at the Junee Correctional Centre.
The Indian influence surfaced with Fiona now conducting classes in Bollywood dancing at Cootamundra and in Canberra. We were delighted to witness a demonstration by a beautifully dressed Fiona performing her wonderful dancing before the conference came to a close.
