Saturday’s win over Ainslie saw the Blues back half excel, led by Joel Pearson’s strong marking and long racking kicks, while the efforts of Ethan Silk and Liam Friday and Scott Munday paid an important role in the Blues nail-biting win.

Saturday’s close win might mean the difference whether the Blues travel or host in the first week of the finals.

The Blues trip to Snowy Oval in Cooma tomorrow, as always, is a challenge. The Cats at home this year have knocked Belconnen by 11 pts and last Saturday they accounted for an understrength Yass side by 29 pts. With the Southern Cats sharing their home matches in Canberra and Cooma, tomorrow’s clash is last match of the season at Snowy Oval.

Our numbers for the Cooma trip are good, particularly with the quality inclusion of Chris Drum. The Blues will be looking forward to having a full bench.

After two weeks off, a general bye and team bye, the girls are back on the football field tomorrow and they travel to South Oval to take on ANU Griffins.

Well done to Justyn Smith for his contribution to the Blues this season. The former Blues footballer has not only umpired several of our matches this season, but more recently, Justyn has taken on the role as coach of the women’s side. Having a person like Justyn at the Blues is like gold.
