Strikers coach Mick Simons has praised a hugely improved performance from his side and issued a challenge to push themselves even further after going down 6-0 to premiership favourites Tolland on Sunday.

“It was a massive improvement … but I still believe that we can shake some of these top teams,” Simons said.
The side impressed in the absence of key midfielders Tanealle Ecclestone and Ash Holder, and Simons believes a full-strength unit would be a dominant force in the Leonard Cup.
“If we can get all our players on the park, there’s no reason we can’t show everyone how far we have come this year,” he said.
The scoreline flattered the visiting Wolves as the Strikers dominated early proceedings, cutting through Tolland’s defence and creating scoring opportunities.
However, the side still found themselves down 3-0 at half-time and fizzled at the death to concede a further three goals, the result nevertheless capping a remarkable nine-goal turnaround from the side’s previous fixture.
