The Local Government Area has 11,500 residents and covers an area of 3,981 kms.
The council will comprise of nine councillors who will represent the entire Local Government Area.
Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens residing in the council area who are 18 years of age or older.
There is no absent voting at this election so people must vote at a polling place or pre-poll venue.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council Administrator Stephen Sykes said enrolling to vote is the first step in people having a say.
“Following the closure of nominations on August 9, I would encourage the community to get to know the candidates,” Mr Sykes said.
A number of Cootamundra residents have already put their hand up to run for council.

Nominations for candidates open on Monday, July 31 and close at 12noon on Wednesday, August 9.
