Dan Hampton’s pride and joy – an American import 1994 Nissan D21 pickup – suddenly vanished from his Baylis Street home last Tuesday around midday.
Mr Hampton believes thieves are responsible and claims a number of eyewitnesses saw the vehicle being loaded onto a trailer northbound to Cootamundra escorted by another two vehicles.
“I’ve got two or three people saying they’ve saw two white 4WD pilot with toolboxes on the back pushing my car onto a trailer and heading back out of town,” Mr Hampton said.
“I’ve reached out on Facebook and asked around but no-one has any idea where it is at the moment.”
The Nissan model was Mr Hampton’s first ute and holds immense sentimental value.
“The car must have been stolen because I’d never ever sell it,” he said.
“It’s got really distinctive stickers, a distinctive spotlight, even a skeletal hand near the tow-bar – you’d know if if you saw it.
“It’s also got tags and stuff from different pubs from all over the shop – most of them are closed now so they mean a lot to me.”
The incident follows a number of reported vehicular thefts around Temora and surrounding areas with multiple cars allegedly being taken by trailers under similar circumstances to Mr Hampton’s.
A Temora woman appealed for assistance on social media only last month after her black utility went missing from outside her property and was later found stripped of parts and abandoned by the rail line.
Those with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Hampton’s vehicle or any other missing vehicles are encouraged to contact local police services directly.
