Maverick religious figurehead Dr Erica Mathieson has been unveiled as the second speaker for Cootamundra’s U3A Comparative Religion Series, People of the Book.

Following the seminar delivered by Dr Rabbi Ben Elton on Judaism earlier this year, the Anglican archdeacon and rector will host a new discussion entitled “Christianity – the basic tenets: it’s not as straightforward as you believe.”

Dr Mathieson is tipped to challenge widely-held beliefs on Christianity during her seminar and will cover a variety of topics including interpretations of Jesus and the relevance of Christianity in contemporary society.

“I think she’ll actually be quiet controversial,” event organiser and U3A spokesperson Leigh Bowden said.

Dr Mathieson speaks next Wednesday at 2.00 pm in the Stephen Ward Rooms.
