A first-half goal to Aaron Kemp proved the difference as the Strikers held off third-placed Tolland to seal the win and keep their finals dream alive.
“We’re thrilled with that result,” said Strikers skipper Adam McPhail. “We didn’t go into our shell after Kempy’s goal and we kept creating chances and pressuring them throughout the game. It was only those last 10 minutes or so where we started playing defensively.”
Results still need to fall in Coota’s favour if the side is to play in the finals but Sunday’s win proves they’ve earned a shot. “We’ve just got to go one better next week and keep winning games,” McPhail said.
