Mr Loiterton has been a tireless supporter for the club for over three decades and was honoured with a special dinner on Tuesday night at the Club.
Unsurprisingly, he still believes his beloved course is one of the best around.
“Places like Young and Sydney courses are good but we could be just as good with the right technology,” he said.
“It’s not as long as some of the others around but it’s still a Par 71 and it’s a beautiful spot.”
The Cootamundra Country Club is NSW’s oldest regional golf course and has certainly seen its fair share of drama.
The course has endured some drastic weather changes in recent years but Mr Loiterton has dived into the challenge head first.
“Last year we had over 1000 millilitres pouring down, including a massive downpour in September,” he said.
“We had to close off some of those back holes because everything was completely sodden.
“Now this year we’re getting next to nothing and it’s all dry.
“Operating the sprinkler systems manually takes up a heap of time and it’s hard to manage.”
Mr Loiterton is a staunch supporter of bringing the course up to standard with modern technology, including home-operated watering systems.
“It would make things so much easier, especially during these dry patches.”
Cootamundra Country Club staff and members have showered the 30-year stalwart with praise, friends and associates labelling him “irreplaceable” and “a terrific asset to the club” during the celebration dinner.
Mr Loiterton is also a talented golfer who notched his third career hole-in-one with a 165 metre shot during the Pro Am event in May.
