Heartfelt tributes have poured in for a loving partner and father-of-two Luke Dowell, who was tragically taken from his young family this week.

While many around the district may not have known his name, countless people would have seen his horsemanship and love of Australian history in action as he travelled with the Gold Trails Reenactment group.

From Anzac Day ceremonies to festivals across the region, Luke’s smiling face framed by a bushranger’s neckerchief was always there.

The only time Luke was more at home than in the saddle was spending time with his beautiful family. Here he gets into the bushranger spirit on the Jugiong Rec Ground during a Sergeant Parry Memorial Day. Picture: Jennette Lees

From Gundagai, but with a wide network of friends across the district, Luke is survived by partner Kerrie and six-year-old twins Gus and Stella.

The Gundagai community is rallying around Kerrie and the twins with a trust account established through the town’s Bendigo Bank branch for those wishing to donate.
