The pair will travel with Volunteer Eco Students Abroad (VESA) to Puerto Misahuallí, an Ecuadorian village, and spend 14 days assisting local indigenous communities.

“We’ll be teaching english and helping out around the place with sanitation and construction – building toilet blocks and bathrooms and that kind of thing,” Ms Wallace said. 

“The main focus is providing assistance for the village.”

Ms Hulford said the idea was sown during an information night at Charles Sturt University. 

“I’m a student there and I ended up going to their talk and hearing about VESA and the trip in general,” she said.

“It turn out really well because I'd already planned a trip for my 30th birthday and Kristy was very keen to come along.”

The pair have already started fundraising for donations to the village and have two more events planned before their November 17 departure date.

Ms Wallace will run a six-hour spin cycle class on October 28 at Ripped 24/7 while Ms Hulford is hoping to host a monster garage sale in early November.

“I’ll be starting at 6.30am and run 30 minute spin classes on the hour every hour with casual riding in between,” Ms Wallace said.

“We’re still waiting to hear back on a set date and venue for the garage sale but we’re seeking big item donations for that if anyone’s interested in helping out.”
