A spokesperson for the proposed development said it will be located on the corner of Wallendoon Street and Hovell Street, opposite Thompson’s Rural Supplies.
If consent can be achieved, a new building will be erected and eight jobs created.
There will be a drive-in, drive-out style timber yard.
The spokesperson said they do not intend to compete with Cootamundra’s Mitre 10 store, however see tradespeople accepting deliveries daily from surrounding towns and want to be able to provide this service locally.
They will be looking for councillors to proceed with the application despite the recommendation of council staff and are calling on supporters of the venture to attend an extraordinary meeting by Council this Thursday, from 5pm in the Stephen Ward Rooms.
In recommending councillors vote against the hardware store, Town Planner Grace Foulds said further information has been requested from the applicants, however their response has not adequately addressed all points raised.
“There is a significant amount of vital information which is either lacking or ignored in this application,” Thursday’s meeting agenda reads.
