THE Cootamundra Associated agents held their fortnightly sale on Wednesday, October 18 with a yarding of 7791 head. This was an increase of over 1700 head on the previous sale. The market consisted of 4776 New Season Lambs, 713 Old lambs, 1749 Ewes, 379 Hoggets, 51 Rams, 54 Wethers and 69 Old sheep.

The market sold to a much dearer trend on the previous sale a fortnight ago. There was an excellent run of New Season Fresh Sucker Lambs presented, while numbers of old lambs are declining, although the quality of the old lambs was very good .
The mutton market was of good quality, although it lack the weight of previous sales. The bulk of the mutton were medium weights with a few runs of boner mutton.
Top price of the day for New Season Lambs went to JW Manchester of Kingsvale, with a quality pen of New Season Lambs making $172. The Lambs, with an estimated carcase weight of 26.5KG and a skin value of $10 came back at $6.15 / KG CW and were knocked down to Southern Meats Goulburn. These lambs came from the same draft that won the champion Pen at The Illabo Show last weekend.
The new season lambs were generally $10 to $ 12 up across the board, with the odd sale more from last sale with most in the range of $6.20 to $6.55 / KG CW with the odd pen upto $6.70 / KG CW
The processors were active purchasing most, with limited re stocker activity due to the higher prices.
Fewer Old Season Lambs were presented this sale but still produced some good results to be up $ 10.00 on the previous sale. A highlight was a pen of heavy old lambs, also presented by JW Manchester of Kingsvale making $197.60. With an estimated 32 KG CW and carrying a $10.00 coat they came back at a respectable $ 5.85 / KG CW
The Mutton market was also strong. The top price went to a pen of heavy ewes making $ 122. Medium framed mutton made from, $80 to $110.00. Light boner mutton made from $35 to $55. All mutton averaged $103.00 per head.
Mutton sold to a dearer trend to be up $8 to $12 or between $3.80 TO $4.15 / KG CW. Hoggets sold to a top of $140 to average $95. The average price for the 7791 sold, was $125.08 per head
