Junior judging is considered a great outlet for young people to get involved in agricultural shows and perhaps even a start in a future career in the agricultural industry.
The Cootamundra High School Show Team was well represented, as was Yanco Agricultural College and Murrumburrah High School.
Young people had the opportunity to judge meat breed sheep, Merino sheep, fleece, grain, fruit and vegetables and beef cattle.
Winners from each category gained entry to next year’s Sydney Royal.
Junior judging works by comparing the judgements of the young people against an industry professional to see how close they are.
With breeders, producers and other expert voices on hand to guide the young people, it becomes an opportunity to learn more about the category they are judging.
