Former NSW Cup player Jake Goodwin has agreed to move to the club after three seasons with Mounties.
Glen Buttriss played alongside Goodwin, who is originally from West Wyalong, in the Canberra Raiders feeder team.
Goodwin has quite the pedigree being the son of former Penrith and Parramatta player Matt Goodwin and the brother of Weissel Medal winner Lou Goodwin.
The Bulldogs also locked in Dave Buttriss, brother of captain-coach Glen Buttriss.
Buttriss is looking forward to the chance to play alongside his older brother for the first time.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Dave Buttriss said.
“It has been something I have been wanting to do for a while now.”
Buttriss is no stranger to the club.
He made his first grade debut in 2005 and had his last stint there in 2015 when he made a big impact after returning home following two premierships with Sawtell.
But the travelling back and forth from Canberra took its toll and Buttriss didn’t want to commit to another season on the road.
However he hasn’t played since.
The 29-year-old intended to move head to Canberra club Tuggeranong before taking time out to deal with a back injury.
However he’s excited at the prospect of moving back home later in the year and pulling on the blue and white jumper again.
“I’ve really looking forward to getting back home,” Buttriss said.
“It is really looking good as a lot of the boys coming back are all local people.
“We have a couple of outsiders, including the bloke who has just signed from West Wyalong who was at the Mounties with Glen and is a good signing, but apart from him all the boys are locals which will be good for the town.
“It should get the supporters back there and be a good atmosphere.”
The pair take the new faces at Cootamundra to six for the 2018 season.
Since the captain-coach came on board following his NRL career, the Bulldogs have also been able to attract club juniors Haydn Cowled, Jordyn Ballard and Chris Maher back from rival Group Nine clubs.
