There is no time for small talk or getting to know each other, however building these relationships helps when personnel are faced with these tough times.
Co-organiser and Cootamundra paramedic Gareth Jones said he has seen similar events bring people together in other towns such as Goulburn with their annual event, and he thought it was time Cootamundra offered something similar.
“I floated the idea to a few people and they responded well,” Mr Jones said.
Invitations have been sent to members of the Police, Ambulance, Cootamundra Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service, Cootamundra Hospital and Cootamundra Medical Centre with an open invitation extended to those members of these organisations who have not received an official invite.
The event will be held at the Cootamundra Ex Services Club on Saturday, June 3 with tickets $65 each.
To make things more interesting, the committee, which includes representatives from all involved organisations, have designated an ‘Ode to James Bond’ theme.
Committee member Gil Kelly said the event also provides a good opportunity for the partners of emergency services personnel to meet.
These are the people left at home while their loved one responds to an emergency, often out of business hours.
“We want people to come along and catch up or get to know new people in a social atmosphere,” Mr Kelly said.
Interested people should RSVP by Friday, May 5.
Organisers hope to make the event an annual ball should this inaugural event be a success.
