The women are raising money for Fight MND (Motor Neurone Disease) in memory of Tisha’s late mother Gill Galvin.
They have named their team ‘Run for Gill’ as a tribute to Mrs Galvin who lost her battle with MND 10 years ago.
She had been diagnosed 10 years prior and still today, there is no cure.
Neale Daniher, of Australian rules football fame, also has MND and is the driving force behind Fight MND.
Fight MND aims to raise the profile of MND within Australia in the hopes that increased awareness may lead to better care for those affected by the disease and increased funding for research into finding a cure.
They are Australia’s leading independent MND foundation dedicated to supporting large-scale collaborative MND research projects, clinical trials, and improved care for all Australians living with MND.
During this year’s Run Membourne, Fight MND is hoping to raise $200,000 to fund four full-time MND researchers to work through the pre-clinical development of promising potential therapy for MND.
The Cootamundra contingent have hit the ground running with their fundraising hosting a chocolate caramel slice drive and filling more than 130 orders.
“We have been overwhelmed with the support from the people of Cootamundra,” Tisha said.
As well as purchasing the slices, people also made monetary donations and donated ingredients towards the cooking.
