What a day for the Cootamundra Blues last Sunday with our women breaking through for a historic win, while our boys trumped second-placed Woden in Canberra.

Sunday, August 6 will go down as one of the great days in the Blues’ history as the girls defeated ADFA/RMC 5-5-35 to 0-2-2 while the boys defeated Woden 18-11-119 to 5-4-34.
We now turn our attention to this Saturday, where the girls host Tuggeranong while the boys take on the Googong Hogs, both at Clarke Oval.

Saturday night will be action-packed at sponsor of the Blues, the Family Hotel, with the Best and Fairest count for both men and women.
Later is a highly anticipated social night; race night.
Have only seen the girls play four times it is pretty hard to make any judgement on their Best and Fairest, however from what I have seen I would expect captain Michaela Perceval to poll well.
Others players in contention are Grace Silk, Sienna Bloor and Harley Whatman.
The boys Best and Fairest should be keenly contested with votes coming from just 13 matches.
Will someone be a dual Blues Best and Fairest or will we have a first time winner?
My top five are Dylan McDermott, Phil Bird, Jimmy Finucane, Stephen Chant and Joel Pearson.
Plenty of experience in this group of five; between them they have worn the navy blue for 492 matches.

Barring any upsets in the final round, the semi-finalists should finish in this order; (1) Cootamundra, (2) ANU Griffins, (3) Yass, (4) Southern Cats, (5) Woden Blues and (6) ADFA/RMC.
The teams which finish first and second will have week one off and advance to the preliminary final, while also in the first week, three will play six and four will verse five.
It was a costly loss by Woden on Sunday as they dropped from second place to fifth place.
