THE Cootamundra Associated agents held their fortnightly sale on Wednesday, November 15 with a increased yarding of 7544 head. This was up over 1200 head on the previous sale.

The market consisted of 3751 new season lambs, 1413 old lambs, 2006 ewes, 225 hoggets, 110 rams, and 39 old sheep.

As per usual there was a large field of buyers on the rail and all keen to fill orders.

There was an excellent run of new season fresh sucker lambs presented, although there possible was not as much weight as the previous sale. Some woolly lambs are starting to show signs of dryness.

The new season and new season shorn lambs were keenly sought after, and the market for these was mostly firm to $2 to $4 better in some cases.

There was a larger run of new season store lambs and they were keenly sought after by the re stockers and made to a top of $ 125 to go back to the paddock, which was similar to the previous sale

Top price of the day for new season lambs once again went to John Holihan, Wallendbeen, with a quality pen of fresh lambs making $165. These lambs, with an estimated carcase weight of 25.5kg and a skin value of $10 came back at $6.10kg CW and were knocked down to Woolworths.

Top price new season shorn lambs went to Gary McPherson of Stockinbingal making $164.20.  

Weighing 25kg CW, and with very little skin value they came back at $.60/kg CW and went to Fletchers International after spirited bidding

Most prices were in the range of $6.10 to $6.70/KG CW although light restocker lambs made up to & over $7/kg CW.

A large run of merino lambs with an estimated 25kg CW and wearing a $12 coat, made $150 or $5.55kg CW.

A much smaller run of Old Season Lambs were presented this sale but still produced some good results with prices making $6.00 to $6.20 / KG CW

OTHER QUOTES: XB New Season Lambs: 24 to 26.5 KG CW made from $155 to $165. 20 to 22 KG CW made from $145 to $155. 18 to 20 KG CW made from $120 to $140. 16 to 18 KG  CW made from $110 to $125. 14 to 16 KG CW made from $80 to $105.00

The mutton market was of good quality, with similar weights than the previous sale and the market for mutton was slightly cheaper for the heavy mutton, while the medium weigh mutton being $3 to $5 better than last sale.

The top price went to a pen of heavy woolly ewes making $135. Medium framed mutton made from, $80 to $110. Light boner mutton made from $35 to $55 or between $3.80 to $4.25/kg CW.

A good run of hoggets sold to a top of $140 to average $113, while rams were in demand and sold to a top of $114.
