THE Cootamundra Associated agents held their fortnightly sale on Wednesday, December 13 with a similar size yarding yarding off 3907. This was decrease of about 100 head on the previous sale.

The market consisted of 1201 new season lambs, 958 old lambs, 1322 ewes, 240 hoggets, 38 rams, 68 old sheep and 79 wethers.
There was a large field of buyers on the rail, as per usual and they operated in a market that was general dearer across the board. Once again, the quality of the yarding was excellent.
The new season and new season shorn lambs were keenly sought after, and the market for these was mostly $4 to $6 better and in some cases more.
There was less new season store lambs at this sale, although what was here, were keenly sought after by the re stockers and made up to $ 126 to go back to the paddock, which was slightly higher than the previous sale, while lighter store lambs made between $80 to $90, to be up $5.
Top price of the day for new season woolly lambs went to JB Fairfax of Muttama, with a quality pen of fresh XB Lambs making $182. These lambs, with an estimated carcase weight of 27kg and a skin value of $10 came back at $6.30kg CW and were knocked down to Woolworths.
Top price new season shorn lambs went to Anthony Attard of Wallenbean making $180. Weighing 26.5kg CW, and carrying a $4 jacket they came back at $ 6.65kg CW and went to Woolworths on a knock call.
Most prices were in the range of $6.30 to $6.80kg CW although light restocker lambs are still making up to and over $7.20kg CW.
A good run of old season lambs were presented this sale and produced some good results with prices making $6to $6.20kg CW to be fully firm to slightly dearer on last sale.
OTHER QUOTES: XB New Season Lambs: 24 to 27kgG CW made from $168 to $182. 20 to 24kg CW made from $155 to $165. 18 to 20kg CW made from $135 to $150. 16 to 18kg CW made from $120 to $130. 14 to 16kg CW made from $80 to $120.
The mutton market was of very good quality, with similar weight to the previous sale and the market for mutton was up to $ 2.00 to $5.00 better for the heavy mutton, while the medium weight mutton being $5 to $8 better than last sale.
The top price went to a pen of heavy woolly ewes making $ 148.00. Medium framed mutton made from, $90 to $120. Light boner mutton made from $40 to $60 or between $4 to 4.50kg CW.
A good run of hoggets sold to a top of $156.20 to average $113, to be up to $6 dearer.
