The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) have declared a total fire ban for Cootamundra and the rest of the Southern Slopes Zone for Tuesday.

The was declared ahead of windy and hot conditions which are forecast for January 23.
The ban also covers Harden, Gundagai, Boorowa, Young, Tumut and Tumbarumba.
No fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended during a total fire ban.
Gas and electric barbeques may be used provided certain conditions are met.
Resident are being encouraging to follow their bushfire survival plan.
Under ‘Severe’ fire and ‘Very High’ fire conditions the RFS says a well prepared home which is actively defended can provide safety in the event of a fire.
The total fire ban begins at midnight.
As well as the Southern Slopes, a total fire ban is in place for the Southern Ranges, which includes Goulburn, Yass, Upper Lachlan and Yass on January 23.
