That’s how Karen Schmidt described her welcome to Cootamundra.
Ms Schmidt has made a tree-change and moved from Melbourne to open Coota’s Accessories and Gift Shop in Parker Street.
“They made it clear that you have to be here 30 years to be a local, but they’ve been incredibly welcoming,” she said.
Ms Schmidt ran a similar store in Victoria but said she was looking for a change.
“I looked at other towns but Cootamundra was just so pretty,” she said.
The shop stocks gifts and collectibles inspired by popular culture as well as tobacco and smoking accessories.
Ms Schmidt said the shop had been trading for a week and so far, the response had been positive.
