Each year, the chest is shared among community groups with the Lions Club, Nursing Home, Cootamundra Strikers and EA Southee Public School each receiving $400 last week.
IGA store manager Daniel Wells said the business tried to support as many local groups in community groups as possible.
“It’s the community supporting IGA which helps fill the community chest,” Mr Wells said.
EA Southee Public School’s captains Kerstyn Taylor and Lilliana Chick collected their cheque on the school’s behalf.
Principal Leonie Stevenson said the money from IGA would provide healthier items for the school breakfast club.
“These items include cereal, toast, juice and a hot milo,” she said.
“EA Southee Public School is very thankful for the kind donation and the wonderful thought for giving it to our school.”
