Mrs Brown was informed late last year that the heritage value was “not significant” enough for the state register.

It may have taken two years to get a response on the Cootamundra District Hospital’s state heritage value, but she’s hoping for a quicker response this time around.

Earlier in March, Mrs Brown met with an official from the state heritage office and together they examined the hospital building and the memorial wing.

Mrs Brown will now re-submit the application with additional information.

“The worry is not about how its used but what it looks like,” Mrs Brown said.

“I want to retain the facade as it exists now, to maintain the town’s heritage. They don’t build buildings like that anymore.”

The hospital was built in 1907 and was designed by Cootamundra architect Ernest Reece Laver.

It was used as a health facility until the 1980s.
