The One Night Stand brings the best Australian artists to a regional location once a year.
Earlier this month, it was revealed former resident Dave McCarthy had made an application to bring the One Night Stand concert to Cootamundra, with the support of Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.
Since then plenty of residents, young and old, have thrown their support behind the bid on social media through page on Facebook called Triple J One Night Stand Cootamundra 2018.
Jon Francis, 19, said there wasn’t a broad selection of live music in Cootamundra and people often had to travel for it.
“I’d love to have a music festival in our town because I love the music,” Mr Francis said.
“But it would also help Cootamundra astronomically, no one knows about Coota, even though it’s a great place to live.”

Mr Francis said seeing professional musicians playing would also inspire people to learn.
“A lot of young people are leaving Cootamundra because of a lack of jobs and a lack of activities for them,” he said.
He said it’s something he had considered himself.
“I know a lot of my friends who’ve left Cootamundra would return for the event.”
Meanwhile, music festival regular Ellie Mullins, 17, said said “heaps” of people would turn up to the One Night Stand if it was held in Cootamundra.
Miss Mullins has travelled for the Groovin’ The Moo festival, Forbes’ VANFEST and will plans to go to Splendour in the Grass this year.
“Not having to travel for a few hours would be great. It gets all the young people involved and there aren’t many events which have a broad appeal for all young people,” she said.
“The One Night Stand would be great for all young people.”
Her friend Lucy Fitzgerald agreed, “it’d be a great experience for entire families to bond together over new and exciting music”.
“It’d be great in Cootamundra, it’s such a small town and we don’t get many opportunities for concerts.”
