After originally moving to the school as assistant principal in 2015, Miss Greene spent the last two years leading Eurongilly Public School as relieving principal.
The principal isn’t just the school’s leader at Eurongilly but also the teacher which Miss Greene said was a great experience.
“[But] it’s great to be back in Cootamundra, where we’ve got a really experienced and committed team dedicated to giving children a great education,” she said.
While her new job takes her away from the blackboard – it’s not without its challenges with around 300 students and their teachers becoming her focus.
It means making decisions to ensure students have a positive learning experience, but also make the most of their day at school.
“School is more than what happens in a classroom, it’s about supporting the well-being of students, supporting their interests and passions and to encourage them to become capable and confident citizens,” Miss Greene said.
She said the focus was on the whole child, rather than just “learning outcomes”, so as well as English and maths – there’s time to develop social skills and foster creative expression.
“For the foreseeable future I feel I can have a significant impact on the school, it’s a very fulfilling and enjoyable role that I can see myself in for a long time,” Miss Greene said.
“I’m looking forward to what’s ahead, I feel really lucky and honoured to be chosen to lead this great school.”
