The diminutive on-baller has already chalked up a number of awards.
Playing all his junior football with East Wagga Kooringal, Dylan debuted with the Blues in 2012 as a 16-year-old.
He soon made an impact at the club.
He finished second in the Blues’ Best and Fairest, and the following season he won his first best and fairest.
In doing so, he broke the six Best and Fairests in a row won by Stephen Chant.
More silverware came for McDermott in 2013 when he won the league Best and Fairest at the tender age of 17.
In 2014, the Blues won their initial AFL Canberra premiership with McDermott judged best on ground as the Blues defeated Yass.
Therefore, in the space of three seasons, McDermott had won a league and club Best and Fairest, a best on ground in the grand final, and became a premiership player, all before he had reached the age of 19.
Groin injuries hampered McDermott in 2016, which saw him miss a few games.
Regaining full fitness, McDermott was back to his brilliant best in 2017, winning his second Best and Fairest.
As all of McDermott’s matches have been played in AFL Canberra, a quick look at the AFL website sees Dylan judged in the Blues’ top six best players in 70 of his 99 matches.
At 22, Dylan McDermott has an achieved a lot and I am sure, the next award he would welcome would be another premiership medallion.
In the space of three seasons, McDermott had won a league and club Best and Fairest, a best on ground in the grand final, and became a premiership player, all before he had reached the age of 19.
