Tony and Eddie got off to a good start and were never headed and the final score (31-16) indicated their credible overall performance on the day.
A Minor Singles was played between Wayne Watmore and Tyson Smith (one of our youngest bowlers) and Tyson had one moment of glory on the 20th end, scoring four shots and thus giving himself a one-shot lead.
Wayne went on to win from there, with a final score (31-23)
Then we come to a couple of Major Singles with the match between Ron Johnson and Bill Manwaring proving a real marathon, needing 45 ends of play to get a win (31-28) for Ron and put him into the next round.
The second one was between Arthur Ward and Don Manwaring and Arthur began where he left off from his previous win over Mike Barber, getting to 27 with Don on 24.
A combination of old age, an aching body, and good bowls from Don ended Arthur`s dream run (31-27).
Two games of Social bowls on Friday found both cards scoring 26 shots for winners, and N Apps and R Johnson playing against K Medcalf and R Cleveland had the largest margin +12 to win the day.
The other game was a win for R Crowe and W Ledger over G Hagan and A Hutchinson with +5 shots.
G. Hagan and E Thorburn had a win over K Medcalf and D O`Brien on Sunday (23-15) and finally last Tuesday we had another unusual result with the score cards; both finished with 17 points and a one-shot margin.
The count back showed G. Hagan and G Worboys had won most ends with their game against G Bottrall and G Davidson (Two ‘GGs’ is half a horse team).
The other 17-point card belonged to K Medcalf and A Ward for the win over C Willis and B Stephens, and raffle trays won by G Davidson and C Willis OBE.
