Registered nurse Rob Woolley who has checked around 934 men on his travels with MHERV said the biggest risk factors for rural men were unchecked blood pressure and cholesterol.
Mr Woolley said sometimes high cholesterol could be related to high blood pressure.
“I can tell people what their cholesterol is in three minutes,” he said.
Often those simple tests could make a big difference to people’s health.
Mr Woolley said taking MHERV on a tour was about giving people like “farmers who look after their stock and tractor but not themselves” a chance to prevent an early death.
“I always say if you think you have indigestion and heartburn, have a glass of cold milk," he said.
“If [the pain] sticks around it’s not indigestion and seek medical attention.
“The heart doesn’t go ‘click like a switch’, it’s like a volcano, there’s warning signs.”
Mr Woolley and Cootamundra Rotary will bring MHERV to the Saleyards from 7am to midday on Wednesday.
