Some of the songs Ms Bradman learned from her mum and there’s one written by her grandfather, Don Bradman.
“It’s celebrating music that is at some level familiar to a range of ages and people,” Ms Bradman said.
While for many, her grandfather is one of Australia’s greatest cricketers, for Ms Bradman “grandpa is grandpa”.
“The amazing thing is there’s a certain familiarity in Cootamundra and Bowral. I feel a sense of connection and familiarity with the people. There’s something about their gestures which still reminds me of my family.”
Home Live In Concert is set for Saturday, June 16. Ms Bradman will be accompanied by pianist Kate Johnson.
“She’s a wonderful pianist. Kate has worked all over the world and worked with Opera Australia,” she said.
Performing in Sacred Heart Church was another highlight for Ms Bradman.
“For me, churches are places of music making and celebrating humanity and they have fantastic accoustics,” she said.
The venue will be far more intimate than singing in theatre or concert hall.
“I love the connection between myself and the audience,” she said.
“There’s more opportunity to talk to the audience on a long tour and that’s what sustains me, those conversations and helps keep it real.”
Tickets for adults are $52 and are available at www.gretabradman.com or by calling 02 9266 4034.
