The winners were Oscar Lopez and Jeff Cook with 2 wins + 33; second was Steve Stanton and Jim Deacon with 2 wins + 6. Wendy Deacon and Rob Hillier were third.
Club Championships: Alan Small outplayed newcomer Jason Jones to record a 31-16 win and move to the third round, while Greg Field dominated his second round game against Bill Cosgrove with a 31-16 win and also progress to the next round.
Social bowls: Two very close games of triples were played on Wednesday. J. Jones, G. Bushell and J. Huntington snuck home against B. Cosgrove, M. Andrews and A. Small 23-20.
In the other game, O. Lopez, P. Cockram and G. Hillier got the chops against R. Hillier, T. Cosgrove and J. White, 20-16.
Meanwhile, members of the Young, Grenfell and Cootamundra Country Club Bowling clubs were treated to some very exciting bowls last week as the South West District Singles Championships was played at Young Bowling Club. Tuesday started with 11 woman bowlers contesting this popular District competition. Games were played in the morning with the losers qualifying for the Consolation games in the afternoon. Wednesday morning the numbers were whittled down to four games in the Semi Finals in the afternoon. The two games for SW District Finalists were Margaret Gailey vs Sheila Traynor, both from Young with Sheila winning 25 to 15 and Elsie Hines (Young) vs Pat Francis (Cootamundra CC) with Elsie winning 25 to 14. Elsie will play Sheila Thursday Morning.
In the Consolation group Margo Parker (Young) vs Elizabeth Cleveland (Cootamundra CC) with Margo winning 25 to 7 and Catherine Betcher (Grenfell) vs Ann Gardner (Young) with Ann winning 25 to 24 with all play going down to the wire for a close finish.
