Grade 6 Pennant playoffs
On a very cold and wet weekend 5 Districts braved the weather to contest the Zone 8 grade 6 Pennant playoffs at Cootamundra Ex-Services bowling green. Saturday saw Cootamundra Country Club play Gundagai in the first round where Gundagai had a 80-54 win and move to the semi’s against Holbrook. Gundagai were again too strong and won 78-28, while the other semi saw Wagga Rules defeat Hillston 67-59 for the remaining spot in the final. In very trying conditions with lots of rain, the final saw Gundagai handle the conditions better than Wagga to go on to win 66-45 and a trip to Nelson Bay for the State playoff.
Social bowls: Wednesday saw one game of pairs and a game of triples were J. Jones and A. Small recorded a close 21-19 win against Rocky and P. Cockram, while in the triples game an extra end had to be played when the score was 25 all after 21 ends. The one end shoot out saw O. Lopez, J. Huntington and E. Jarrott record 3 shots to defeat A. Ward, R. Hillier and K. Hampton.
